Work permits and visas are issued to suitable candidates with skills in needed fields and experience in certain in-demand occupations, as well as to most people who are offered a job by a New Zealand employer.
You can also obtain a temporary work permit and/or visa if you are employed for a specific event or for a specific purpose (i.e. a tournament or show). Additionally, those wanting to join a spouse or partner who is already living or working in New Zealand or who has received a valid visa for the purposes of working in New Zealand can obtain a temporary work visa.
All applicants must meet the same basic requirements as any foreign national entering the country and must be in good health and of good character. Applicants must also genuinely desire to be employed in New Zealand.
